Our little boy has a series of celebrations starting with dinner for the extended family.

Next, he had a celebration with his classmates with a special cake in the shape of a train with candies inside. (You can tell what he loves by now right?)

His special cake... kids are so lucky nowadays.

I took leave to take the cake to school on his birthday. =)

Lastly, he had a World Cup Birthday party with our cell group since his birthday coincided with the WC season which is only once in 4 years. We had lots of yummy "stadium food" and a soccer field cake this time.

Our little baby has grown into a little boy with a big personality with very strong views of his own. May God bless him and guide him and we pray that he will grow in wisdom and stature, in favour with God and men.

Gerald's Yamaha Class Concert

Whenever the children finish 1 textbook in Yamaha JMC, the teacher will hold a class concert just to let the kids perform what they have learnt to their parents.

My little Gareth is super active. He is always running and jumping around. Getting him to stay still and pose for the camera is a very difficult task. Here are some recent pics taken during our church camp. I was training him to pose for the camera.

Tinkling the ivories

Gerald has been going to Yamaha for keyboard lessons for almost 1.5 years now. He can play fairly well and I can no longer catch up with him in terms of playing. Now I only know the theory and supervise practice sessions theoretically when in the past, I could demonstrate the right thing to do. Hope he will go on to accomplish some grades in piano after finishing the Yamaha JMC. Here's a video of him practising for his class concert.

Church Camp 2010

The family went to Malaysia's Klana Resort for the annual church camp from 10-13 June. It was a good time of hearing God's Word and pondering the theme, "Thirsting for more of Him". The kids had a great time too. Gerald kept asking to go to "Sunday School" everyday as he really enjoyed the company of his little friends.

Earth Hour

We decided to take part in Earth Hour as we did in the previous year. Ordered pizza and switched off all the lights. The boys had fun trying to blow out the candles lit around the house. Gerald is more aware of what is happening and he can tell you about why we all should recycle (courtesy of Charlie and Lola). Gareth is still just having fun. He made us sing "Happy Birthday" for almost half an hour cos he associates candles with cake and birthdays.

On Tuesday, Luke took Gerald cycling and the poor baby fell down from his bike (the son, not the husband). He got some pretty bad abrasions on his face. My poor baby!!!! His handsome face!!!! I hope it won't leave any scars. Today at church everyone kept asking Gerald what happened to him. I think he answer until he is quite fed-up. Haha. I should have just stuck a notice on him that read "I fell down while riding my bike. It's all Daddy's fault!"

Picnic at Botanic Gardens

May is a super hot month and it is a good time for picnics. Time for the boys to get close to nature, after being surrounded by concrete most of the time. So when the SSO held a free, open-air concert at the Botanic Gardens, we packed up a lot of stuff and went for a picnic with our cell group.

Easter Sunday

I tried to make Easter fun and relevant for the boys. Besides going to church and explaining to them the concept of Jesus dying for our sins, we also did some not so Christian things like baking Easter cookies, hot cross buns and painting easter eggs.

Lazy Sundays

The kids are usually bored on Sunday afternoons so I took them to the field nearby to cycle and look at kites. Kite flying is quite the in-thing at the little corner of Singapore where we stay and there are lots of families, from various parts of Singapore who come here to fly their kites. There are big, professional stunt kites to watch too.

Gerald really enjoyed cycling and working off his abundance of energy. Gareth preferred walking and running. The problem is keeping an eye on both of them so they won’t run or cycle onto the road. It wasn’t easy even with 2 adults. =)

Earth Hour 2009

The Seng family decided to participate in Earth Hour 2009 by switching off our lights, air-con, TVs and computers from 8.30pm to 9.30pm on Saturday night. We ordered pizza and had a meal by torch and candlelight. Then we played the guitar and sang children songs with the boys for a while. The 1 hour was over very quickly. We have done our little part to combat global warming and also bonded with the kids.

We realised that we take a lot for granted as at some point of time, I unconsciously reached out my hand and almost pressed the light switch as I went into the kitchen to wash my hands. Gerald had to go to the loo with a torch. He kept asking, "Mummy, can you maybe turn the lights on?" It also struck me how we assume that there will be light when we press the light switch and there will be water when we turn the tap. I was also rushing to finish some work on my laptop before the hour started. How will we function if we run out of fossil fuel to generate electricity one day? Must learn to use less so that we can sustain the earth longer for our children.

Earth Hour ended for us on the dot as Gareth spilled a cup of coke on the floor at 9.30pm sharp and we had to turn on the lights to clean up the mess!

Bradshaw's Shadows

I took Gerald to a Children's Festival Performance. It is a shadow show and it was really good. Gerald enjoyed himself and so did I.

Started the day by taking photos with daddy.

Take photo with mummy too as we arrived too early.

The shadows were very life-like and the whole performance was filled with songs, stories and was very interactive. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. =)

6th Wedding Anniversary

It seems not so long ago that we were just married and was busy setting up our own place. In a flash, we have been married for 6 years and have 2 adorable boys. =) Happiness is being with those you love and who loves you back. =D

We celebrated by going out for a buffet meal... yummy!

Acutally, both Luke and I are small eaters so we go to buffet very "bo hua". But just go for the ambience and experience. Hee~ Here's to more good years ahead.

Visit to Bottle Tree Park

Our cell group organised a trip to the Bottle Tree Park. It was in a rather ulu park of Singapore but the trip was quite educational (at least for me). The boys had fun fishing for prawns.

The boys are all ready to set off on their adventure.

The park was named after the bottle trees in it.

Gareth and Gerald excited at the outing. The place is so near JB that my phone kept picking up the Malaysia signal. Sure kenna charged for overseas call!

After the fishing session, the prawns we caught were BBQ-ed for us on the spot. Gerald happily ate 2 prawns.

It has been 1 and a half months since Gerald started in his new school. He is adapting well and can tell me the names of his new friends. The new school has a indoor gym and he looks forward to the twice weekly sessions. Most days, he will say YES when we ask him if he wants to go to school. But he has to wake up really early now to catch the school bus and he will always whine in the morning and complain for headaches and tummyaches. But once he has woken up fully and gotten up the bus, he really seems to enjoy school.

Braces for Daddy

Daddy is bothered by some growing gaps in his teeth and decided to go for braces, even though he is an old man in terms of getting braces done. Aunty Sharon was very nice to him and did not tighten them too much so he could still eat almost everything.

Mummy's birthday

It's my birthday and hubby took me out to dinner. Actually we had a difficult time deciding where to go as it is the 3rd day on CNY and everywhere was still serving over-priced CNY menus. Thankfully, we managed to have a delicious dinner of steak and wine. Yummy!

Daddy sent flowers to the office, which made everyone comment, "Spoil market!".

Managed to find a nice restuarant for dinner.

After dinner, we went home to have cake with the other 2 men in my life... my cute little sons. *muaks*

So fast, 1 year older again. But must keep forever young to keep up with my boys!

Chinese New Year 2009

Chinese New Year is really early this year. The carols have barely stopped and the tree hardly taken down when CNY songs started blaring in NTUC and everywhere else we went. It was a mad rush trying to get everything ready before CNY but we remembered to have fun and take pictures.

We went to squeeze at Chinatown on New Year's Eve.

The boys got new clothes for the 1st day. Was doing last minute shopping.

Didn't get anything new for myself. No time to shop for new clothes but it didn't matter.

The boys actually prefer clowning around at home to visiting people in their best clothes.

We rounded up the holidays with a trip to Sentosa where the boys had a splashing good time at the beach.

Room Renovations

We have decided to get beds for the boys' room. They have been sleeping on mattresses on the floor so far but Gerald has proven that he can stay on a bed and not roll off anymore. So we went to Ikea and got them a bunk bed and 2 chests of drawers. Then we played carpenter for 2 nights in a row to assemble the furniture by ourselves. Also had to order mattresses and buy bedsheets. Did not think that getting new beds ready was so much work. Finally, the boys got to use their new beds before Chinese New Year.

The new bed after painstakingly matching and screwing pieces of wood together. It was like building a rocket.

One boy got a Dino Safari themed bedsheets.

The other boy got a Farm themed set.

Gerald, being the older and more agile one, naturally claimed the upper bunk for himself. He is still bouncing up and down with glee now.

Cell Group Retreat

We attended our cell group BBQ cum retreat (9-11 Jan) at the ultra "ulu" Home Team chalet in Sembawang. It is like a 1-star hotel. But cheap so what to do? Beggars cannot be choosers. The BBQ was fun and the food was yummy. We also had a lot of laughs playing Wii in the middle of the night. Overall, there was food, drinks, 'nuahing' and bonding among cell members and guests. We should do this more often.

First day in new school

This year we have switched Gerald to a new school and he has to take the school bus all by himself. At first we were worried that he will cry when he gets on the bus. I prepped him days in advance and told him that he has to take the bus by himself. Surprisingly, he happily went up the bus and didn't even whine. He also had no problems adapting to the new teachers and friends. My boy is all grown up.

Gerald has to wake up at 6.30am in the morning in order to catch the bus. Poor thing... he looked so blur in the morning... got bed hair some more.

2009's first visit to the zoo

To take advantage of not having to start school on the 2nd of Jan this year, I decided to take the kids to the zoo. Gareth has not been to the zoo many times and we wanted to check out the new Rainforest play area for children. But unfortunately, I got a massive migraine not long after we entered the zoo and I was nursing such a severe headache that I didn't get any pictures at the play area. The weather was not very cooperative either and it poured just when the kids were going to enjoy themselves in the pools. We had to cut the trip short and went home quite early. Will get pictures another time.

Gareth is happy just to get KFC for lunch.
